Drug & Substance Misuse Counselling
You are not alone
Drug addiction rarely exists in isolation. In England, well over 300,000 adults are in contact with drug and alcohol treatment services each year — the highest figure on record — and nearly half of those in treatment are dealing with opiate use, though we see clients across the full range of substances, from cannabis and cocaine to prescription medication dependency.

The whole picture matters, not just the substance. Drug use is usually tangled up with something else — stress, trauma, chronic pain, anxiety, depression, or difficult life circumstances. Treating the substance use alone, without addressing what's underneath it, rarely leads to lasting change. That's why our approach looks at the full context of your life, not just the drug itself.
Addiction is not always obvious . Drug addiction carries one of the heaviest stereotypes of any addiction, and it stops a lot of people reaching out — because they're comparing themselves to an extreme image that doesn't match their own life. But the real marker of addiction isn't which substance, how often, or how much. It's loss of control — when using has quietly moved from a choice to something that's steering your decisions. If that's where you are, however "functional" your life still looks from the outside, it's worth talking about.
Counselling works. Motivational Interviewing and CBT — often combined — are well-established, evidence-based approaches for substance use disorders, shown in clinical trials to significantly reduce frequency of use and improve treatment retention compared with no structured support[1]. Combining approaches (for example, Motivational Interviewing alongside CBT) has been shown in randomised trials to produce a meaningful, sustained decline in drug use at both 3 and 6 months post-treatment.

All our therapists have a background working with chemical dependency across a range of clinical settings, working with both outpatients and inpatients at residential rehabs. My approach combines Motivational Interviewing, CBT, relapse prevention, and structured treatment planning with a genuinely collaborative, non-judgemental relationship — I'm not here to lecture you about your drug use, I'm here to help you understand it and change your relationship with it, on your terms.
Above all, connection matters. Addiction, of any kind, tends to isolate people right when they need connection the most. Talking to someone who understands addiction without judgement is often the turning point, more than any single technique or programme. Whatever you decide, don't carry this alone.
